Lifebreath Yoga Nidra Method and Research:
Research shows that Yoga Nidra effectively alleviates Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSD), anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, depression, and chemical dependency. Based on current studies with LifeBreath Yoga Nidra in the military, the Defense Centers of Excellence has approved iRest Yoga Nidra as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine. In addition, the U.S. Army Surgeon General has listed Yoga Nidra (based on research with iRest) as a Tier 1 approach for addressing Pain Management in Military Care.
Yoga Nidra is a modern, evidence-based adaptation of the ancient yoga nidra practice. It uses a 10-step protocol that includes body sensing, breath awareness, and welcoming emotions. This approach makes it effective for people navigating a range of conditions, as documented by extensive research.
While some iRest research has been conducted with specific populations, like veterans with PTSD, the findings are relevant to the challenges pregnant and postpartum women face:
Proven stress reduction: Studies have shown that iRest can significantly decrease symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression by activating the parasympathetic nervous system.
Effectiveness for sleep problems: Research indicates iRest can improve sleep quality and address insomnia, making it an excellent resource for new parents who have disrupted sleep schedules.
Helps manage emotional reactivity: By learning to navigate thoughts and emotions, iRest helps practitioners reduce emotional reactivity and increase resilience—a crucial skill for new mothers.
